STRIVE Wellness Run
S. T. R. I. V. E = Students Taking a Renewed Interest in the Value of Education
The STRIVE program is a mentorship opportunity that the Owatonna Rotary Club adopted in 2004. The program matches a student who needs encouragement throughout his/her senior year with a Rotary member mentor. Throughout the school year students and mentors attend scheduled sessions where community members speak on a variety of topics associated with success after high school and the importance and value of a great education.
The proceeds of the STRIVE Wellness Run are used to provide scholarships to students who participate in the Rotary STRIVE Mentor Program. In 2012 the run raised a total of $5.355 dollars that went directly toward these scholarships.
What local runners have to say...

" The STRIVE 4 Mile is a perfect distance for runners who want something more than a 5K. It also offers an event for children to compete. Our children and friends have made it an annual tradition during the Steele County Free Fair. It is a great opportunity to model and promote fitness in our community." ~ Anissa Williams

" The Strive run is a great opportunity for members of the OHS Boys Cross Country team to get a time trial in during the early part of the season and raise money for their fellow classmates at the same time. The course through the SE residential part of Owatonna is flat and fast. There are always several spectators along the route to cheer the runners on to a great race." ~ Dave Chateliane
